This delicious chicken noodle soup for wisdom tooth patients is sure to be a hit when your teen hits that time of life! Seasoned with just lemon juice and herbs only and full of yummy veggies, this is a healthy dinner option for the sickos!

My mother-in-law prepared soup this week. Usually, she serves some of her home-canned chicken with her favorite veggies cooked in a pot and stewed for a few hours. But this week she pampered me and threw together an extra special combination. It warmed me up on those cold winter days.
Soup for teens and young adults who have undergone wisdom tooth surgery is a great way to sneak in key nutrients in a way that the patient would otherwise be missing.
Does everything appear unappealing to your patient? No kidding! Eating takes too long, even if it’s mushy when their mouth is in agony. This warm, smooth soup will make eating a 30 second ordeal.
There is something transformative about being cared for when you feel awful. This easy recipe will make giving them the best care feel like a breeze.

We had to play around with this recipe a bit to get it just right! The first time my mother-in-law made it, she added way too little chicken. I got hungry very soon afterwards! Then we doubled the chicken to increase the protein content. After that change, it was way too thick, so we added more water, and a dash more salt to keep it flavorful. Then, I figured out that it is much easier and way more appetizing to drink soup rather than to put spoonful’s of partially processed food into my mouth when it is too painful to chew.
Tips for making soup for wisdom tooth recovery:
- Add a protein rich base. Yogurt and kefir work great if you are a vegetarian. Just use coconut yogurt if you need a vegan option. It makes this soup filling, and if you pick a fermented product, adds gut healthy probiotics.
- Add veggies. Carrots, peas, beets, and sweet potatoes are delicious options. For a kick of flavor, add fresh squeezed lemon or lime juice, like we do in this chicken noodle soup.
- Flavor it up. Use any herbs you have on hand, like parsley or dill to bring a flavorful twist to otherwise bland ingredients.
HOW LONG DOES CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP FOR WISDOM TEETH KEEP IN THE FRIDGE?
Chicken noodle soup will keep up to one week when wrapped tightly in the fridge.
VARIATION OF CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP FOR WISDOM TEETH :
- Substitute the chicken for yogurt or homemade milk kefir. It is simple to make once you have a starter culture. Just add the milk to the grains, let it sit at room temperature for 24-48 hours, and then strain it off. Milk kefir keeps for up to two weeks in the refrigerator. Get more info on how to make your own milk kefir in this post.
- Use coconut milk yogurt. Coconut milk yogurt is easy to make. Just use a vegan yogurt starter to inoculate the coconut milk with the healthy bacteria. See more on this process here.
- Omit the lime juice for a less tart variety.
- Add a half ripened half avocado to sneak a little more nutrition in.
- Add a handful of fresh spinach for added antioxidants.
- Use a regular blender instead of a stick blender.
Have fun playing around with the combinations and getting some more nutrition into even the pickiest of eaters.
